Hello! My name is Cami Simpson, and welcome to my page!
I am currently 21 years old, and I am completing my final semester as an Industrial & Systems Engineering student at the University of Southern California.
This page is a space to provide insight on the different challenges I’ve completed and will continue to complete each year in the effort of earning your sponsorship. I invite you all to read about the significance and history of each challenge, as well as why I am so passionate about supporting Fundatia Inocenti/Romanian Children’s Relief. Please feel free to check out all my past challenges on the interactive map below!
I’m a freshman at Durham Academy, NC, and I have been raising money for charities every year since I was 5 years old. I would like to raise $2000 this year for Romanian Children’s Relief (RCR) – Inocenti. (www.rcr.org). This organization helps orphaned, handicapped and sick children get the medical and therapeutic care and educational support that they need. It is truly a loving organization and each year they help more than 2,000 abandoned and hospitalized children as well as children with special needs. My family and I have visited this organization about 6 years ago in Bucharest, Romania. I helped feed and play with the babies, and change their diapers. I have seen what the money I raised has done for the organization and it is very impactful. Many children are sick, and need medicine, vitamins, clean diapers and clothes. Their supplies are limited and very much dependent on donations such as yours. Your help is very crucial to these children’s survival. I have chosen to help RCR-Inocenti because I got to witness how much they have done for so many babies with so little funding. They need help and with your support to my effort, we can make a difference in these children’s lives!
Last year, I hiked Mount Kota Kinabalu to the summit (4095m), one of the tallest mountains in South East Asia. That was a two-day challenge that was both difficult and unforgettable. This year I will try hiking and backpacking the 72 miles Great Smokey Mountains traverse of the Appalachian Trail. This will take up to 6 days, and 5 nights. I will experience the highest point of the trail (Clingman’s Dome, 6,643 feet). This part is both considered the most difficult and beautiful part of the Appalachian Trail. This will be a new challenge for me!
Please consider supporting my effort by donating through my website. It’s very simple, fast, and secure.
I appreciate your generosity and kind support. Please feel free to spread the word!
With many THANKS,
Cami Simpson
I completed my 6 day hike through the Great Smoky Mountains on the Appalachian Trail on June 30th. This has been by far THE most challenging thing that I have ever done, both mentally and physically! I have never had to carry a 30 pound backpack on my back and hike 12 hours up and down hills for 13 – 15 miles a day before! This trip definitely tested my limits and stretched my strength. I have learned some valuable things about myself, the love and support of my family, and the beauty of nature. This hike was extremely difficult for me. However, having a reason and a purpose along with all the support from the donors, I was able to find the strength to pull through. I felt good and accomplished when I finished! Now when I look back, all I see are great memories for a good cause.
