On the night of the Russian invasion, Tetiana and her two children fled Kyiv and crossed into Romania. There, they found shelter with Fundația Inocenți, a small nonprofit already serving vulnerable Roma children but suddenly responsible for thousands of Ukrainian refugees.
Overwhelmed, the caregivers turned to their longtime American partners at Romanian Children’s Relief and to specialists at Boston Children’s Hospital, who provided expertise in trauma counseling and support for caregivers under strain.
Filmed by Academy Award-nominated director Don Hahn, Tetiana is a deeply human look at one family’s resilience and the fragile networks of compassion that rise in the face of war.
